Persecution; poverty; close scrutiny by the Government; restriction on activities and the forced closure of churches. These are just some of the challenges faced by Christians today in Laos. The nation is led by a communist Government, with Buddhism the majority religion.
However, the other significant challenge for the church in this nation today is the huge shortage of Bible teaching and sound, well-translated material is needed. It is therefore with great delight that in 2017 DPM became established in Laos for the first time ever! A small team began translating Derek’s Bible teaching, starting with the proclamation cards. These were followed by a few Teaching Letters and booklets and a professional translator is now translating 23 of Derek’s books into Lao.
