A Heartbreaking Story of Sacrifice
One of the most poignant stories to emerge from my recent mission trip to Myanmar was that of a father who tragically lost his life while protecting his infant child during a devastating flood. As the rising waters swept away the village, the father selflessly held his child above the flood, sacrificing his own life to ensure the child's survival. The child was orphaned, a heartbreaking reminder of the fragility of life and the enduring power of love.
This tragic event served as a powerful reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross. Just as the father gave his life for his child, Jesus laid down His life for the salvation of humanity. The selfless love demonstrated by the Father mirrored Christ's sacrificial love, offering a profound spiritual insight.
A Resilient Gathering: DPM Seminar in Myanmar
Despite the ongoing political instability and the challenges posed by recent floods, our local team in Myanmar successfully organized a pastor's seminar. Originally planned for a different region, the seminar was relocated to a familiar church to ensure the safety of all participants.
Our team demonstrated commitment by rising at 4:30 a.m. to prepare for the journey. Despite the pouring rain and flooded roads, they persevered, transporting valuable DPM teaching materials by bus to the seminar location. The team's dedication and sacrifice were evident in their determination to provide spiritual nourishment to the pastors.
A Testament to Spiritual Hunger
The seminar was a resounding success, drawing over 60 pastors from various churches and denominations. Many of these pastors traveled for hours, some as long as five hours by motorbike, to attend the event. Their unwavering commitment to spiritual growth and fellowship was a testament to the deep hunger for God's Word that exists within the Myanmar Christian community.
Dr. Z, the coordinator of DPM-Myanmar and a respected leader in the region, invited two theological school faculty members to share their insights. The first speaker focused on the book ‘Father God’, a timely topic given Myanmar's challenges. The second speaker presented ‘God's Medicine Bottle’, offering practical guidance and encouragement to the pastors.
The DPM seminar in Myanmar was a remarkable achievement, demonstrating the resilience and faith of the local Christian community. Despite the obstacles, the pastors' commitment to spiritual growth and the dedication of the organizing team ensured a successful and impactful event. The seminar provided much-needed spiritual nourishment and encouragement, equipping the pastors to serve their communities with renewed vigor.

A powerful testimony emerged from a pastor recently participating in a DPM seminar. Diagnosed with cancer and experiencing severe facial swelling, she was given a devastating prognosis: just six months to live. The news was a crushing blow, not only to her but to her entire family.
